ServicesSudden Roof Damage
Sudden Roof Damage Repair in Cypress
A torn-open roof is stressful, and the first job is keeping everyone safe. We look at the damage from the ground and the attic, cover what is exposed so more water stays out, and then give you a clear written plan for the real repair.

When roof damage shouldn't wait for a routine visit
Most roof problems give you time to plan. Some don't. A branch comes through the shingles during a winter storm, strong winds lift a row of tile, or water starts dripping through a light fixture. That is when a sudden-damage repair makes sense: stop the harm from spreading, then fix it properly once the weather allows.
We treat these calls in two parts. First comes temporary protection, done with your household's safety in mind. Then comes the permanent repair, priced in writing so you know what you are agreeing to before any work starts. If the damage turns out to be minor, we will tell you, and it can wait for a regular roof repair visit.
What the work includes
- A safety check before anyone climbs
- We look for sagging ceilings, wet wiring near fixtures and loose material that could fall. If something inside your home is unsafe, we point it out first and help you keep people and pets clear of it.
- Temporary cover that actually holds
- Exposed areas get a heavy tarp anchored to the roof structure with wood battens, not just weighted at the corners. On tile roofs we work around unbroken pieces so the cover doesn't crack more of them.
- Clearing debris off the roof
- Fallen limbs and broken tile are removed carefully and lowered, never tossed off the edge near walkways or cars.
- An attic look for hidden water
- We check decking, rafters and insulation from below. Wet insulation holds moisture against wood, so finding it early matters.
- Photos for your records and your insurer
- We photograph the damage before and after we secure it. We work directly with your insurance claim and can explain the steps, though the adjuster makes the coverage decision.
- A written plan for the permanent fix
- Once your home is protected, you get a free written estimate for the lasting repair, whether that is a section of new decking, matched tile or new flashing.
Signs the damage shouldn't wait
Drips or a swelling ceiling
If drywall is stained, bulging or dripping, water has already gotten past the roof. Set out a bucket, move what you can and keep clear of any sagging patch.
Bare wood or daylight from the attic
When decking is exposed or you can see light through the boards, the next rain has a direct path inside.
Shingles or tile shifted by wind
A strong gust can peel off a full row in one go. The underlayment left behind was never meant to face sun and rain on its own for long.
A branch lying on the roof
Even a modest limb can crack a rafter. Let it stay put until we can take it down without making things worse.
Moisture near lights or outlets
If you can reach the panel safely, switch off the breaker for that room, and keep family and pets out of the area.
How the visit goes
- 1
You call and tell us what happened
We ask a few questions about where the water or damage is and whether anyone is at risk, then share a few simple things you can do in the meantime, like moving furniture and staying off ladders.
- 2
We assess from the ground and the attic
Our crew checks the inside first, then sets ladders on solid footing and ties them off. Nobody goes up on a wet, steep or windy roof without proper fall protection, and if lightning or high gusts make it unsafe, we wait.
- 3
We secure the damaged area
Debris comes off, the opening is covered and anchored, and we check the attic again to confirm water has stopped coming in.
- 4
You get photos and a written estimate
We go over what we found in plain words and leave a line-item estimate for the permanent repair, plus notes for your insurance claim if you are filing one.
- 5
We make the lasting repair and clean up
When the roof is dry, we replace damaged decking, underlayment and roofing. Before the crew packs up, we pick up loose nails and roofing scraps from the lawn, flower beds and driveway.

What sets the price
Every sudden repair is different, so we only give a price once we've seen the damage ourselves. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval, if a bigger repair strains your budget. The temporary cover and the permanent repair appear as separate lines on your estimate, so each is easy to understand.
- How much of the roof is damaged
- Replacing a few shingles lifted by wind doesn't take long. A cracked rafter or a large area of wet decking needs more lumber, more labor and sometimes another day up top.
- The type of roofing
- Clay and concrete tile call for careful handling and matching pieces, and older profiles can be slow to find. Asphalt shingles are generally faster to match.
- What's below the surface
- After we open the area, soaked or rotted decking may have to be replaced. You see photos before anything is added to the job.
- How high the roof is and how we get there
- Two stories or a steep pitch means more fall protection and more time setting it up. Tight side yards can also slow the work of getting debris down to the ground safely.
What people ask about sudden roof damage
Something not covered here? (714) 613-8375
Should I climb up and tarp the roof myself?
We'd ask you not to. Wet tile and shingles are slippery, and damaged spots can collapse under your feet. The safest work is indoors: catch the drips, move your valuables and keep everyone out from under sagging ceilings.
Does homeowners insurance pay for this kind of damage?
High wind and fallen trees are often covered, but every policy is different. We work directly with your insurance claim, providing photos and a written estimate, and explain each step along the way. Your adjuster, not us, decides on coverage.
Will a tarp hold, or does the full repair need to happen soon?
A securely anchored tarp protects your home for a short stretch, but it isn't permanent. Sun and wind break it down, so we schedule the lasting repair as soon as weather and materials permit.
Will the repair match my current tile or shingles?
Usually we can find a close match, and on tile roofs we sometimes move intact pieces from less visible spots. When an exact match isn't out there, we show you the choices before ordering.
Do you work in nearby cities as well?
We do. Besides Cypress, we work in neighboring towns like Los Alamitos, Buena Park and La Palma. The full list is on our Service Areas page.
